There are many mobile shop software options on the market now. Some offer only POS, some only a phone lock, and some are general retail software that was never built for mobile shops. Choosing the wrong software wastes both money and time — and moving your data to another software later is a hassle. So check these 12 things before you buy.
1. Can it track stock by IMEI?
This is the most basic need of a mobile shop. General retail software only records "Samsung A15 — 10 pcs"; but you need each phone's own IMEI, purchase price and history. Check: when you scan the IMEI at the time of sale, does exactly that phone appear on the bill? (See how it works)
2. How fast is the POS?
If billing takes more than a minute at a busy time, customers get annoyed. Check whether the POS has barcode/IMEI scanner support, mixed cash + bKash payments, exchanges and buying used phones. (POS feature)
3. Does it have installment (EMI) management?
Down payment, installment schedule, printing the agreement, the dues list, rescheduling — if you keep these in separate software or a ledger, the accounts get muddled. EMI and POS should be in the same software. (Installment feature)
4. Phone lock — does it really work?
Many offer a "lock" that is just an app the customer can easily delete. Check:
- Does it lock without internet?
- Are factory reset and app uninstall blocked?
- Does the shop get an alert if someone tampers with it?
- Can the phone be fully released once the installments are finished?

5. Is the accounting automatic?
When you make a sale in the software, is it automatically added to your cash, sales and profit accounts? Or do you have to write it in a ledger separately again? Does it produce a Profit & Loss and a Balance Sheet? (Accounting feature)
6. Does it work in Bangla?
Not all shop staff are comfortable in English. If the whole software is in Bangla, training is easier and there are fewer mistakes.
7. Can you run it from your mobile?
The owner is not always in the shop. Check whether you can see sales, dues and cash from your phone — and whether there is a separate app.
8. Staff permissions
Can the cashier see the profit report? Can a salesman change prices? Check whether you can give each staff member separate permissions. (Staff feature)
9. Will it cope when you add branches?
Today one shop, in two years it could be three. Check from the start whether each branch has its own stock and cash, while the owner still sees everything together. (Multi-branch)
10. Accounts for a partnership shop
If the shop runs on investment from two or three people, can you keep each person's capital, withdrawals and profit share separately? (Partners & profit sharing)
11. Data security and backup
Your customer data and accounts all sit on the software company's server. Ask how secure the login is, whether backups are taken, and whether other shops can see your data.
12. Support and trial
If there's a problem, is there someone you can talk to in Bangla? Is there a free trial before you buy? Never buy software without trying it yourself.
Compare with a small table
| What you need | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| IMEI stock | Correct profit and warranty |
| POS + EMI together | All sales in one place |
| Offline phone lock | Security for installment money |
| Auto accounting | Know your profit without a ledger |
| Bangla + mobile app | Everyone can use it easily |
Final word
Good software works the way your shop works; it doesn't force you to work the way the software does. PhoneSell Pro was built with these 12 points in mind. Check it for yourself — start a free trial or book a demo.
